Few foods have this many ways to start an argument. French fries have the crunch and fast-food memories. Mashed potatoes own Thanksgiving plates. Hash browns can make breakfast, while tater tots can send you straight back to the school cafeteria. Then loaded baked potatoes, potato skins, scalloped potatoes and potato salad come looking for their people. There’s no sensible way to settle crispy versus creamy, breakfast versus dinner, or simple versus fully loaded. So don’t. Pick the potato dish you actually want on your plate and settle it head-to-head.
