Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs don't care whether brunch is happening. Peel one at breakfast, slice one onto lunch, turn a batch into egg salad, or just hit it with salt and eat it standing over the kitchen counter. That portability gives hard-boiled eggs a completely different case from the skillet-heavy contenders. The tradeoff is obvious: no runny yolk, no crispy edge, no buttery pile of scrambled eggs. Against soft-boiled, the center becomes the entire argument. Against an omelet, simplicity goes up against maximum customization. It may not be the flashiest plate here, but hard-boiled has everyday usefulness on its side.
