Woodworking

Woodworking

Woodworking is what happens when dads decide normal hobbies aren’t complicated enough.

Suddenly there’s sawdust everywhere, expensive tools nobody else is allowed to touch, and conversations about oak versus walnut like it’s a life-or-death issue.

But woodworking dads will defend the hobby forever because buying furniture isn’t the point. Building it is. Sure, the shelf costs more and takes longer than IKEA. That’s irrelevant.

The woodworking vs home improvement rivalry is one of the best in this league because it’s artistry vs utility. Woodworking dads care about precision, craftsmanship, and clean finishes. DIY dads are just trying to stop the sink from leaking before everyone loses patience.

There’s also something deeply old-school about woodworking that feels timeless. It’s one of the few dad hobbies where silence is part of the appeal.

Of course, critics think woodworking is mostly an excuse to buy giant power tools.

Woodworking dads would probably agree.
