The Iron Giant looks like he should dominate this league through sheer size. That isn't why people defend him. His real weapon is the emotional punch behind the character: this enormous machine learning that he gets to decide who he wants to be. That puts him right into WALL-E and Baymax territory while still giving him the visual presence to stand across from Optimus Prime. Few contenders bridge massive robot spectacle and genuine tenderness this well. When power and heart collide, is the Iron Giant the one you'd pick over everybody?
