Spaceballs
Dark Helmet. Lone Starr. Yogurt. A spaceship that just keeps going. Spaceballs takes the enormous mythology of Star Wars and sci-fi blockbusters and replaces the grandeur with Mel Brooks chaos. That makes it a particularly dangerous GoatWars contender: the jokes are one thing, but the affection people have for the movie is another. Against Galaxy Quest, it’s two completely different ways to roast sci-fi fandom. Against Blazing Saddles, it becomes a Mel Brooks civil war. And against Airplane!, you’re basically choosing your spoof-comedy religion. Does Spaceballs deserve ludicrous speed to #1?
