Smoking Meats

Smoking Meats

Smoking meats is what happens when grilling evolves into obsession.

This isn’t dinner anymore. This is temperature management. This is waking up at 4 a.m. to spritz a brisket like it’s a newborn baby. Smoking dads don’t casually cook ribs. They document them. They defend pellet brands online. They casually mention “the bark” in normal conversations.

That’s what makes this hobby so dangerous in a debate.

Grilling dads think smoking meats is unnecessarily dramatic. Smoking dads think grilling is basically microwaving with flames. Neither side respects the other.

And unlike golf or fishing, smoking meats creates immediate social pressure. Everyone has to eat the results. If it’s amazing, the dad becomes a legend for the weekend. If it’s dry? The entire family remembers forever.

The best part is how quickly this hobby escalates. One smoker turns into three thermometers, custom gloves, YouTube tutorials, and someone explaining airflow during a birthday party.

At some point, the meat stopped being the point.
