Santa Barbara is the one people bring up when they want to sound like they actually know soaps.

It was sharper. More stylish. Won awards in a way most of these shows didn’t. And outside the U.S., it was massive.

Compare it to Another World and it feels more polished. Compare it to General Hospital and it feels more controlled.

But here’s the issue. Not everyone watched it.

So the argument always comes down to this. Do you go with the bigger name… or the better craft?

Because if you’ve seen it, you’ll defend it hard. If you haven’t, you’re probably skipping it without thinking twice.
