The entire situation becomes ridiculous the second you realize everybody is risking this much for one tiny kitten. Then you look at Keanu and think, fair enough. That is the movie’s superpower. The kitten is so aggressively cute that an increasingly chaotic, very adult comedy can revolve around getting him back and the premise still feels emotionally correct. Keanu has almost none of the traditional advantages in this field. No childhood Disney songs. No sword. No royal bloodline. No decades of cartoon lasagna propaganda. What it has is the strongest “I would also make terrible decisions for that cat” argument in the bracket. Put it against The Cat from Outer Space and you get grounded absurdity versus sci-fi absurdity. Put it against Garfield and it is pure innocence versus pure attitude. If cuteness can become a legitimate competitive weapon, Keanu is built for an upset.
