“How you doin’?” (Joey, Friends)

Three words, one raised eyebrow, and Joey Tribbiani thinks the rest is basically handled. “How you doin’?” became the purest version of Joey: confident, ridiculous, charming and completely committed to the bit. It barely needs context — the delivery is the joke. That gives it a nasty advantage against longer lines because fans can hear Matt LeBlanc saying it the second they read the card. But does Joey’s swagger beat Homer’s exasperated “D’oh!” or the sheer weirdness of “Yada yada yada”? If your definition of a great catchphrase is a line you physically cannot read in a normal voice, Joey has a serious GOAT case.
