Caprese enters this bracket with almost nothing to hide behind. Tomato. Fresh mozzarella. Basil. Usually some olive oil, and maybe balsamic depending on who’s making it. That simplicity makes every ingredient matter and gives Caprese one of the cleanest visual cards in the league. Against Cobb, it’s minimalism against maximum toppings. Against Greek, it becomes a fight between two fresh Mediterranean-style favorites where tomato and cheese play completely different roles. Caprese probably won’t win the Toppings battle, but on a summer day when the tomatoes are right, it might not need to. Can three ingredients take down an entire loaded bowl?
