Blazing Saddles
The western rides into town with all its swagger and mythology, and Blazing Saddles immediately starts tearing the whole thing apart. Mel Brooks goes after the genre’s conventions while repeatedly blowing up the boundaries of the movie itself. That gives it a very different case from the rapid-fire silliness of Airplane! or the sci-fi fandom of Spaceballs. The nastiest matchup might be Young Frankenstein: same director, same era, two completely different targets, and two groups convinced they have the superior Brooks movie.
