Her strongest argument against Madonna or Michael Jackson isn't that she copied their blueprint. It's that she absorbed the idea of the total pop superstar and pushed the standard of execution somewhere terrifying. Beyoncé doesn't need chaos. The control is the spectacle.

Taylor Swift has the fan army. Prince has the instrumental genius. Beyoncé's argument is completeness: there just aren't many obvious holes to attack.
