Then the mask goes on, and suddenly the argument gets serious.
Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man talks trash. He moves like Spider-Man. He messes with criminals because he's having fun doing it. For fans who wanted the wisecracking, cocky version of Spidey from the comics, Andrew finally scratched that itch.
His Peter Parker is where the fight starts. Too handsome? Too cool? Too much skateboard? Tobey defenders have been prosecuting that case for years. But Andrew's chemistry with Gwen gave his movies real emotional weight, and No Way Home handed him the redemption moment his Spider-Man desperately needed.
Against Tom, he has swagger. Against Tobey, he has speed and attitude. And when he catches MJ and realizes exactly what just happened, suddenly everybody who dismissed his era gets quiet.
Maybe he didn't get the best Spider-Man movies. Did he give us the best Spider-Man anyway?
