That basic setup carries The Adventures of Milo and Otis through a childhood-sized journey built around friendship, separation, danger, and the kind of animal adventure that can feel enormous when you’re eight years old. Milo’s case is nostalgia with a face. He is not regal like Simba or theatrical like Puss. He is just irresistibly curious, which might be the most believable cat motivation in this bracket. The partnership with Otis also gives the movie something different: a cat-dog friendship people remember as a unit. Homeward Bound can challenge it on animal-adventure emotion, while Oliver brings similar vulnerable-kitten energy. But if this movie lived in your VHS rotation, logic may already be irrelevant. Sometimes the orange cat from your childhood wins because he never really left.
